Uma nova geração de sensores de visão
CHOICE apresenta o novo sensor FA 46 com significantes melhorias e aumento de funções, além de uma interface muito mais intuitiva.
The resulting new object sensor offers the user new functions such as position tracking, highly-accurate position detection and multi-level logic functions in addition to particularly clear user guidance. Particularly practical: Users can download the software free of charge and test it in detail.
The new FA 46 object sensor now has much more to offer, particularly during part detection, thanks to the new software. Position detection, in particular, has been improved: the X/Y position and rotational position of an object can be very accurately determined by a contour detector, which means the sensor is ideal for precision applications such as picking and placing parts on a conveyor belt. Apart from the contour detector, three other detection methods (pattern recognition, grey level and contrast) are also available for the detection of parameters.
Position tracking has also been integrated – which has advantages in many applications. It is thus now possible to also reliably detect those features which appear offset or twisted in relation to the taught position on the screen. Position tracking is rendered possible by three different position detectors (pattern matching, edge detection and contour detection). Each inspection task (“job“) can be allocated to one specific position detector which affects all the characteristic checks (“detectors“) defined in the job in question.
Enhanced logic and communication functions
The communication capacities of the previous FA 45 series have been considerably enhanced in addition to improved part detection functions. The new FA 46 now supports the EtherNet/IP field bus standard as well as the automatic acquisition of the IP address from a DHCP server. The digital signal outputs can now largely be freely used with output data compiled specifically for the customer or application.
The extended logic functions are of particular aid when configurating the output data: the user can assign results from the combined or multi-stage analysis of different detectors to the signal outputs. This is done in a comprehensible selection menu; the direct input of logical formulas is also possible for advanced users.
FA 46 Enhanced logic and communication functions
The new FA 46 series of visions sensors is characterised by a significantly enhanced range of functions and a particularly simple, intuitive configuration in four navigation steps. The first product available in this series is an object sensor which comes in two versions.
Simple configuration with intuitive user guidance
The entirely redeveloped user interface immediately catches the eye, providing simple and comprehensible access to the extended functions of the FA 46 object sensor. Set-up is carried out in four navigation steps (job, position tracking, detectors, output), in which the respective relevant functions are selected and adjusted. Context-sensitive online aid assists the user should he / she be unable to continue or require background information on certain settings despite the intuitive operating sequence.
Comfortable trial
As from now, potential users can download the new PC software free of charge. By means of example photos, the software can be tested in detail and without hurry (e.g. in the office instead of in noisy production surroundings). An important advantage also for new users in the field of machine vision.
The new software has also undergone improvements in matters of security: it is therefore now possible (but not compulsory) to give graded user authorisations (administrator, user) and thus protect critical functions from faulty manipulations. A separate monitoring module with limited operating possibilities (“SensoView”) is available for users without administrator authorisation.
FA 46 available first in two versions, others are to follow
The first product in the FA 46 series is the object sensor, which is now immediately available in two versions: a full version with all the functions described here and a very attractive price / performance ratio, as well as a basic version limited to the main basic functions for less complex applications which is considerably cheaper in price. Other versions of the new FA 46 vision sensor range (colour sensor, code reader etc.) will follow in the foreseeable future.
SensoPart will simultaneously also continue maintaining the previous FA 45 range so that the users in question do not have to “retrain“ on the new software.
Dual capacity – SensoPart code reader now includes object detection
Many users now no longer need to invest in an additional object detection sensor or an expensive image processing system. This versatile sensor has been available on the market since 1 July 2010.
The FA 46 code reader from SensoPart Industriesensorik GmbH reads both standard 1D bar codes and 2D data matrix codes (ECC 200). The versatile vision sensor can analyse up to five data matrix and/or bar codes in one search zone, and an unlimited number of search zones can be defined. It can also identify other object characteristics such as date stamps or markings in the same reading process.
It has three additional detectors for object detection (pattern recognition, grey level and contrast). Thanks to the integrated position tracking option, codes and object characteristics can be reliably detected even when offset from the taught position. Special image filters with extended setting options guarantee an excellent reading performance even in difficult reading conditions.
Equipped with such features, the FA 46 is also able to manage complex automation tasks which previously required a classical image processing system or the use of several sensors – e.g. applications in which several codes are to be read or which combine code reading and object detection. This represents a considerable economy for the user as installation and set-up of the compact vision sensor is simple: the sensor can be configured quickly without substantial knowledge of image processing with the aid of the concise and user-friendly PC configuration software “SensoConfig” which comes with a user guide and context-sensitive help function. PC connection is only required during set-up of the sensor. The sensor functions autonomously in running mode.
Extended evaluation possibilities in the sensor
The FA 46 code reader offers the user new possibilities when it comes to both detection of characteristics and data evaluation. Inspection results can now be analysed directly in the sensor – either through string comparison or regular expressions, so that a SPC or PC connection can be dispensed with in many cases. A reference string or regular expression can be set directly via one of the sensor interfaces, without the need for use of the configuration software.
The output of standardised quality parameters according to ISO/IEC 15415 and AIM DPM 2006 for printed or directly marked (i.e. punched or laser marked) codes – already implemented in the previous model FA 45 - has also been extended. In addition to the evaluation of 2D codes, the FA 46 code reader can now also determine the quality of ID codes according to ISO/IEC 15416 and issue the results in a freely-selectable format.

Universal interface and operating concept
The range of functions offered by the new code reader is significantly enhanced in relation to that of its predecessor FA 45. This was made possible by porting to a new software platform – after the object sensor presented last autumn and the solar sensor presented at this year’s Hanover trade fair, the code reader is now the third member of SensoParts’s new Vision sensor family FA 46. The universal interface connection, flexible data protocol and common user concept facilitates the set-up and adjustment of sensors to the existing environment and thus minimises any necessary training.
The FA 46 standard also includes the “SensoView“ monitoring software – also included free of charge – which enables the display and monitoring of inspection results and images during running mode. The SensoView scope of functions also includes the change-over and upload of configurations as well as an “image recorder” for downloading images from the sensor memory. The images can then be used for offline simulation of configurations, which reduces the need for intervention during running mode to an absolute minimum.
Compact, autonomous image processing system
The FA 46 Vision code reader is a complete image processing system, consisting of a camera in compact sensor size (45 x 45 x 64 mm) with a high-capacity digital signal processor, integrated infrared, red light or white light LEDs, Ethernet and serial RS 422 interface along with digital inputs and outputs. Besides versions with an integrated 6 mm or 12 mm lens, a C mount version is also available. The sensor is supplied complete with the respective configuration and monitoring software.
In addition to the standard version with all the above-mentioned functions, the FA 46 vision code reader also exists in a special low-cost version as a pure code reader without object detection functions.
